Shyla + Nick’s Intimate Rustic Wedding at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area

planning tips

I've been wedding-obsessed since the age of five. I believe in loved luxury - whatever luxury means to you. The art of surrounding yourself with the people, places and things you adore most when you say ‘I do.’ The brilliance of celebrating however you imagine. Whatever you want is what I want to support you in creating.

Longtime sweethearts Shyla and Nick had been counting down to their wedding day for so many years, and wanted nothing more than to throw an incredible party to celebrate the long journey of their love story with all of their most-loved family and friends.

Originally planned for the summer of  2020, we had to postpone their wedding for a year due to the pandemic in order to ensure that Nick’s sister, who lived overseas at the time, would be able to fly in for the occasion.  With gathering restrictions constantly changing, we went through the full gamut of covid-related wedding day adjustments, from considering moving their wedding to their home to take place in a tent; to cutting their guest list down to only immediate family.  Happily though, the stars aligned for their day, and they were able to forge ahead with their wedding plans almost exactly as we had always hoped.

For Shyla and Nick, their wedding day was not just about them – but about their family of four celebrating becoming fully and truly whole.  Their family ties were front and centre throughout the entire wedding day, culminating in the sweetest moment of the afternoon – the intimate first look between Shyla and Nick, with their two sweet children watching from afar.  The family then spent the entire afternoon together, taking photos, playing together, and just enjoying each other’s company before the guests arrived.

It was also very important to the couple to acknowledge Shyla’s indigenous heritage.  She had custom jewellery made for each of her bridesmaids to wear, as well as a welcome ‘smudging station’ for their guests to take part in to cleanse and purify prior to entering the Historical Chapel for the ceremony.
